5. To devise and organize for women and children particularly to their rights to acquire educations and improve their health and earnings.
6. To facilitate to financial and economic training to empower communities for group saving and start of small business leading towards small enterprise development and income generating activities aimed at economic empowerment and improve on their living standard.
7. To fight against drug abuse and launching programmes aimed at rehabilitation of drug addicts.
8. To establish a resource center aimed at facilitating target communities and local level institutions through information, education and communication.
9. To establish safe houses and rescue center for the victim through building safe houses and working together with orphanages and rescues centers for the young girls and children.
10. To establish a resource center for the sex workers in the community to improve on their health care and educate them on alternative activities to engage in.
11. To develop effective linkages with government line agencies, non-government organizations, and donor agencies working for community development.
12. To establish and provision of schools fees and sponsorship for the most needy girl child, drop outs and rescued girls and young woman to empower and increase the number of girl admission in minority community.
13. Raising awareness of legal and human rights issues through advocacy, networking, public interest litigation and education.
14. Organizing issue-specific and objective-oriented campaigns building social pressure to influence decision-making at national and international levels in favors of deprived, marginalized and vulnerable segments of the community.

Influenced by the new development paradigm, which puts people before things, Child of Nomad follows a participatory approach in every sphere of its work. The traditional knowledge of the minority’s poor is valued and respected, and there is confidence that minority people are capable of self-reliant organization. On a practical level, the fundamental thrust of this approach is decentralization, participatory and empowerment.
For a community to be able to work for its own development and reduce its dependency there is a need for full involvement at all stages of the development cycle. The participation of communities in identification, planning, management, implementation and evaluation of projects is a key factor in our organization work. Internally a participatory approach is adopted in managing the affairs of organization.
Externally, Child of a Nomad role as a “change agent” helps to develop community management structures for their own development. This is increasing the ability of the community to participate in the affairs that affect them, change the hurtful traditional and cultural practices that affect them and that pull them back from development and empowerment. It reinforces the community’s belief in the value of their own development choices and efforts. These community management structures are not parallel structures, but are built upon traditional institutions, promoting equitable representation and participation for the overall development and equal resource distribution and advocacy and empowerment.
Human resource development is an essential part of our development work. This means ensuring that the community is trained and skilled, as well as organized, create awareness and information sharing, work closely relevant organizations and institution to maximize the full potential to be empowered and develop their community and counties.
COAN strongly believes in maximizing its impact by transferring field experiences into knowledge to influence the development policies and practices of NGOs, donors and government agencies. This is important for working towards the long-term goal of eradicating woman empowerment.
